The project includes demolition and replacement of an existing tabletop fume hood installed in 1992 with a new walk-in fume hood and hazardous exhaust fan to support new research involving larger equipment and toxic gases. Work will include architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire alarm modifications, including removal and replacement of countertops, sink, plumbing connections, ductwork, rooftop exhaust fan, electrical circuits, cable tray, lightning protection connections, and installation of a panic alarm system integrated with the building fire alarm system. The contractor will also provide structural design and installation of exhaust stack supports, perform ASHRAE 110 performance testing of the hood and exhaust system, and coordinate construction activities with NIST personnel.
