Description
NRC’s new Advanced Materials Research Facility at the CEI-Mississauga research center requires a high resolution, lithographic 3D printing system for metals, ceramics and polymers for the development of custom materials and functional devices. This equipment will enable the production of fine-featured green-state metallic and ceramic parts produced via a slurry-based additive manufacturing process. The 3D printing system is intended to be a versatile platform capable of producing parts with fine feature size, comprised of at least 2 distinct materials that can be freely patterned in 3D space. The aim is to produce green-state parts made up of bound powder particles in a curable polymer matrix. These green-state materials can be later converted to fully dense functional materials following a separate sintering process. The system must meet all of the technical requirements outlined below.
