This technical assistance aims at strengthening the strategic, institutional, and operational capacity of North Macedonia, for effective energy policy in response to the climate change. It is structured around three interlinked components designed to strengthen North Macedonia’s capacity to implement its green energy transition in line with the EU energy and climate acquis. Component 1 – National Framework focuses on aligning legislation, policies, and strategies with EU standards while strengthening institutional capacity for implementation. It includes high-level strategic policy advice to the MEMMR and support for legislative and policy alignment across priority energy sectors. Component 2 – Reaching Out to Municipalities aims to empower local authorities as active drivers of the green transition. It will enhance the capacity of municipalities to plan, finance, and implement energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Component 3 – Improved Analysis of the Green Energy Transition will reinforce analytical and investment planning capacity of the country through technical and feasibility studies.
