NTNU Department of marine technology - AUR-lab is planning to acquire an unmanned surface vehicle (USV) that can navigate around ice floes in the layer of ice in high Arctic latitudes, close to the North Pole. The platform is meant to transport an instrument to measure reflectance and as a tool to collect samples of plankton from specific locations that are usually restricted to human access due to safety reasons.
