The dredged material will be transported and placed into a New York State Dept. of Environmental Conservation (DEC) approved contractor provided upland dredge material placement site. The proposed maintenance dredging will remove approximately 10,000 cubic yards of critical shoals from the Troy Lock & Dock dredging area. Dredging will be required to a depth of -14 feet Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) plus 1-foot allowable over depth. The dredged material is expected to consist primarily of sand and silt. \n\n Due to the conditions found in the water quality certificate, the proposed work may be performed by utilizing a mechanical dredge with a closed clamshell environmental bucket. Additionally, multiple barges and tugboats may be needed to perform the work during the dredging and unloading/placement operations. All necessary permits required for the dredging will provided by the Government. The Contractor will be required to meet all conditions pertaining to dredging and dredge material placement as specified in these permits. \n\n The Contractor will also be required to provide a suitable upland placement site for dredge material disposal. This placement site will be identified upon contract award, and will be approved by New York State Dept. of Environmental Conservation prior to the start of in-water work. \n\n The proposed work is anticipated to take place between March and May 2026.
