Background Aurora Energy’s current Engineering Consultancy Services Panel, that was established in 2019, expires on the 30 August 2026. The current panel has been instrumental in the successful delivery of a range of both brownfields and green fields substation projects across Aurora Energy’s electricity network in Dunedin, Central Otago/Wānaka and Queenstown Lakes. With the upcoming expiry of the current panel, Aurora Energy is advising suitability qualified and experienced engineering consultancy organisations through this Notice of Intent of the intention to go to market, via an open market Request for Proposals and seek proposals from to join a Next Generation Electricity Network Engineering Consultancy Services Panel. The Opportunity The Panel is being established to support, and be a key enabler to, the planning and delivery of our ongoing investment plans across the Aurora Energy network, particularly in relation to capital upgrades to our substation network assets. Aurora Energy’s investment intentions are outlined in our Asset Management Plan Update 2026–2036, which signals planned network investment of approximately $1.24 billion over the next ten years. This investment is expected to drive a sustained programme of design and delivery activity across the network. The Panel will be established for a period of up to five years (three year initial term with a right of renewal for a further term of two years) and is intended to ensure that we achieve best value for money and an efficient, agile and timely approach to the engagement of Panel Members to deliver engineering consultancy services. During the term of the Panel, Panel Members will have the opportunity to participate in closed tenders for a range of substation related engineering consultancy work and/or may be awarded work on a sole source basis in accordance with the Panel Agreement.
