The scope also includes the decommissioning and removal of two (2) existing gantry cranes and four (4) jib cranes, located at 12 Railway Lane, Otahuhu, Auckland. The existing dual DEMAG gantry cranes and associated rails over Road 2 at the Westfield Locomotive Depot have deteriorated and failed their annual inspection, with issues including motor failures, worn wheels, and other mechanical defects. KiwiRail is using this opportunity to upgrade the depot’s craneage capability. The objective is to engage a supplier who can deliver the new equipment and necessary structural modifications to meet operational requirements. Full details are provided in the RFT documentation.
