Description
GRDC is investing in a national RD&E program to support sustainable management of fall armyworm (FAW) in the Australian grains industry. This investment will improve grower decision-making and reduce the economic impact of FAW by validating economic thresholds, refining integrated pest management (IPM) strategies, enhancing surveillance and early warning systems, and driving regionally tailored extension and adoption. The successful project will:Develop, refine and regionally validate dynamic economic thresholds for FAW across key grain crops and agro-ecological zones, supporting practical management decisions.Refine and integrate IPM strategies, including chemical and non-chemical tools, tailored to broadacre cropping systems.Enhance surveillance and monitoring approaches, leveraging existing tools and adapting them to detect FAW presence and seasonal risk in grains.Lead national extension efforts to support grower and adviser adoption of practical FAW management strategies.Collaborate closely with related GRDC projects, other RDCs, and cross-industry investments to ensure coordination and knowledge-sharing.For full details on the ATM and any associated attachments as well as information on any Questions and Answers relating to the ATM, visit
