Some Council-owned dwellings are vacated by tenants suddenly or at short notice for a variety of reasons. Vacated dwellings are termed ‘Void Dwellings’ or simply ‘Voids’. To protect an empty dwelling from unauthorised entry or occupation, it needs to be quickly secured by means of vandal-proof metal panels fitted externally to all windows and doors.
