Overview With about 2.4 million people, Botswana has a youthful population. Children under 18 years represent 35 percent of the population, approximately 60 percent under the age of 60 years of which 38.2 percent are between the age bracket of 15-35 years. (2022 Population and Housing Census). The country has faced various socio-economic challenges including high unemployment, particularly youth unemployment, which according to the Statistic Botswana’s Quarterly Multi-Topic Survey: Labour Force Module of quarter 1, 2024 stood at an all-time high of 38.4 percent, higher than the national average of 27.6 percent.
