Implementation and Coordination of a Canadian Agriculture Organic Standards Interpretation Committee (Agri-SIC)

Description

The Agriculture Organic Standards Interpretation Committee (Agri-SIC) is an advisory committee that interprets the COS. The SIC provides a transparent process for responding to questions from certification bodies and operators seeking interpretation of the COS. The mandate of the Agri-SIC is to provide answers (interpretive guidance) on COS issues. Since approved interpretations become precedents for the industry, they are posted for public consultation prior to final publication on the Web. The Agri-SIC interprets the following standards: • Organic Production Systems: General Principles and Management Standards (CAN/CGSB-32.310) • Organic Production Systems: Permitted Substances List (CAN/CGSB-32.311)
