The Refuge sits at the confluence of the Arkansas and Canadian Rivers. The Refuge was established as an overlay of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) lands along Robert S. Kerr Reservoir created by the Robert S. Kerr Dam. \n\n The project consists of improving visitor access and experience by repairing damaged areas of the bank, protect existing trail infrastructure, and to repair sections of trail damaged after the 2019 flooding event.
