Summary
In spring 2023, the Government and QA launched a joint strategy for digital competence and infrastructure in nurseries and schools (2023-2030) (hereafter; The strategy). The strategy describes that kindergarten should have an open dialogue with guardians about digital practice and use secure, appropriate digital solutions in parent cooperation. The personnel shall exercise digital judgement and safeguard copyright, source criticism and children's privacy. The strategy points out that there is a need for more research and knowledge on how digital solutions are used in kindergarten and what educational value they provide. There is also a need for knowledge on employees ́ competence and sharing of digital practices. One of the initiatives in the strategy is "to establish a target orthopaedal research programme on the subject of and on digitalisation and digital competence in the sector". The strategy conveys a desire for the research programme to provide better and more systematic knowledge about good, proper and appropriate use of digital solutions and media in kindergarten, to contribute to the nursery ́s digital practice being knowledge-based and supports children's play, creativity and learning, in accordance with the framework plan's guidelines. The assignment includes planning and carrying out research that shall highlight to what degree and how digital solutions come into play in the cooperation between nurseries and home.
