These upgrades are key projects within the current Long-Term Plan (LTP) and will enable both plants to meet river discharge quality standards. The MBR process will deliver consistently high-quality treatment, incorporating a filter barrier to protect the environment. This will expand discharge options compatible with community aspirations for the catchment. A new discharge consent is currently being progressed, there is confident support for a free-flowing discharge that supports natural regeneration.
