The intent of this specification is to establish a standardized and performance-based apparatus specification for the procurement of a new fire apparatus water tender for the District. This document is intended to provide a common operational baseline that may be utilized in future Request for Proposal (RFP) solicitations and bid packages. This specification is intended to define minimum operational, mechanical, safety, and performance requirements while allowing qualified manufacturers flexibility in design and engineering approaches. Any deviations from these specifications shall be clearly identified by the vendor in their proposal submission. The apparatus shall be designed and constructed specifically for fire service operations and shall comply with the current edition of applicable NFPA standards, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), Texas requirements, and all applicable industry standards.
