Tender summary
The Texas Historical Commission (THC) seeks a roofing restoration company with documented experience in roof replacements/restoration for historical building projects of the type, scale, and scope described in this RFP. The objective of this project is to fully restore the Slaton Harvey House roof. The building has an asphalt roof with no tiles or shingles, a flat upper-story parapet decorated with the Santa Fe Railway company symbol, and a stepped parapet on the arcaded trackside pavilion. The structure features deep overhanging eaves supported by decorative brackets. This includes identifying and repairing all active leaks, addressing structural deficiencies, and applying a high-performance coating/sealant system to ensure a fully water-tight, warrantied assembly. All roof materials and associated sheet metal flashing shall be replaced with new materials. The vendor is required to assess site conditions, deficiencies, and repairs. The contractor must work with the project manager and architect to obtain approval before replacing all roof materials. Because the Slaton Harvey House is a State Historic Site managedby THC, any roof work must strictly follow the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and, in accordance with the provisions of the Texas Government Code, Construction Services, and Rules and Procedures, THC seeks a contractor experienced in roof replacement and in meeting all necessary safety requirements. The vendor must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in roof restoration on historical buildings similar to the type of work required by this RFP (as judged by THC) to be eligible for the Contract award. Slaton Harvey House State Historic Site is located at 400 Railroad Avenue, Slaton, TX 79364.
