Summary
Cow Creek Road Salvage Timber Sale C The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This salvage timber sale involves approximately 303 acres within the south and southeastern perimeter of the Cow Creek Wildfire area. The sale includes dead, dying, and green pine timber located in the Black Prong and Cow Creek Tracts of Goethe State Forest, situated north and south of County Road 326 in Levy County, Florida. Due to the severity of the damage, harvest boundaries are categorized as either Primary or Contingency. The Primary area is approximately 138 acres in size and is designated for harvest. The Contingency area is approximately 165 acres in size and will continue to be monitored by the Forester-in-Charge to determine if additional harvesting in this area is required. All operations must commence within ten (10) calendar days of contract execution. This salvage sale is being advertised at the same time as the Cow Creek Road Salvage Sale A and Cow Creek Road Salvage Sale B. In the event that the same bidder places the highest acceptable bid on more than one (1) of these salvage sales, the successful bidder must forfeit all but one (1) sale to the next highest bidder to allow for a faster response or have adequate equipment to harvest sales simultaneously. Special care must be taken regarding waterbodies and red-cockaded woodpecker (RCW) cluster. The Forester-in-Charge will mark these exclusion areas and conduct a mandatory site review with the buyer before any harvest operations begin. Timber will be designated for removal by the Forester-in-Charge or an authorized representative and may include scattered clusters of infected or dying trees. The buyer is not obligated to harvest non-merchantable timber or timber located in areas deemed by the Forester-in-Charge to be undersized or economically unviable. There is no volume estimate for this sale; products include salvage pine pulpwood, salvage pine chip-n-saw, salvage pine sawtimber, and fuelwood. The term of this agreement is twelve (12) months. Interested parties may obtain complete bid information by contacting Kari Hurst at (352) 566-5221. The Florida Forest Service reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any irregularity in bids received. Bids will be opened at: 5353 Ne 39Th Avenue, Gainesville, Fl 32609 05/14/2026 11:00 AM, EDT
