Summary
The objective of this tender is to award a contract for the upgrade of HimawariCast receiving and processing systems for 19 National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) in the East Asia and Western Pacific regions to ensure real-time operations and, as a result, strengthen their capacity for early detection of severe weather. More than eight years have passed since the installation of these systems, and the receivers, processing servers, and associated equipment have become obsolete. On the other hand, Himawari-8/9 is expected to remain in operation until about 2029, and the HimawariCast service is planned to continue in the successor satellite, Himawari-10. In this context, the aging equipment needs to be replaced to ensure that countries can continue to access and utilize Himawari data.
