Tender summary
In response to the Public Health Emergency declared on August 21, 2025, related to Mississippi’s increasing infant mortality rate, the Mississippi State Department of Health releases this request for applications (RFA). This Mississippi Infant Safe Sleep Outreach Project Mini-Grants RFA announces the availability of funding for a limited number of outreach projects to help reduce the risk of Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID), Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), Accidental Suffocation and Strangulation in Bed (ASSB), and other sleep-related causes of infant death in the state of Mississippi. MSDH is offering funds to support community education efforts that aim to increase public awareness about the impact of SUID, SIDS, ASSB, and other sleep-related causes of infant death, and that teach ways to create and provide access to safe infant sleep environments to reduce the risk of sleep-related causes of infant death. The RFA emphasizes outreach efforts within African American communities, although activities can include other racial/ethnic communities.
