Tender summary
The Hokitika Airport Resilience Project (HARP) aims to increase the overall resilience of the airport by improving the airports’ ability to support regional airline aircraft at higher weights and passenger loadings in a wider range of weather conditions and natural hazard events and improve the ability of the region to respond more effectively to natural hazard events. In doing this, WDC hope to improve the safety and security of the Hokitika Airport, protect the airfield assets, and increase its long-term maintainability. WDC are seeking to engage a Contractor to successfully deliver the required civil works, detailed in the design documents. The successful contractor will need to be successfully deliver: • The extension works for the Main 03-21 runway Starter Extensions, through the construction of a high-quality granular pavement and asphaltic concrete surfacing. • The resealing works for the Main 03-21 runway, with the overlay of asphaltic concrete (AC) to the full runway length and width. • The resealing works for the existing 12-30 runway, between the taxiway and 20 thresholds, using Grade 5 chipseal and sand seal treatment. • The required apron extension works, through the construction of a high-quality granular pavement and asphaltic concrete surfacing and installation of a new oil separator. • The required drainage works, which include bulk earthworks and shaping in the runway strip, installation of new drainage pipework, rehabilitation of existing sumps and various remedials. • Resealing works for the Taxiway from the main runway to Apron. In doing this, the contractor must also: • Be willing to work collaboratively with ourselves and our design team to deliver a solution that meets the requirements of the Hokitika Airport. • Be familiar with all the processes and procedures associated with working airside. • Be able to mobilise to undertake the works from 1 September 2026.
