<p><strong>TECHNOLOGY LICENSING OPPORTUNITY</strong></p> <p>Enhanced Stability for Li Metal Batteries with Molybdenum Decorated Collectors</p> <p>Enhancing Stability and Performance of Lithium-Metal Batteries for High-Energy Density Transportation.</p> <p><strong><u>Overview:</u></strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Anode-free rechargeable lithium (Li) batteries are highly effective energy storage systems due to their significantly increased energy density and reduced cost. These batteries can be more easily manufactured than other Li-ion battery architectures because of the absence of an active (reactive) anode material. However, significant challenges, including Li dendrite growth and low coulombic efficiency, have prevented their practical implementation. Still, Li metal is widely viewed as the most promising anode material for high-energy Li-ion batteries due to its high specific capacity and low electrochemical potential.</p> <p><strong><u>Description</u></strong>:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Researchers at Idaho National Lab have developed an anode-free rechargeable lithium battery with a molybdenum (Mo) based current collector at the anode side. This system shows improved cycling performance due to uniform Li nucleation during plating compared with traditional Cu collectors.
