Tender summary
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora invites proposals to establish and deliver a peer-led acute alternative service in the Te Toka Tumai (Auckland) district. This initiative is part of a broader programme to strengthen mental health and addiction crisis responses across Aotearoa New Zealand. The service will provide a community-based alternative to hospital admission, supporting people experiencing acute distress through a recovery-focused, peer-led model of care. The intent is to deliver a safe, accessible, and person-centred service that complements existing clinical services and contributes to a more responsive and balanced acute care system. The service will be developed and delivered in partnership with Health NZ and key stakeholders, ensuring strong integration across the mental health and addiction continuum. Health NZ is seeking experienced providers with established capability in mental health and addiction peer support, and the ability to design and implement services that are culturally responsive, sustainable, and aligned with local population needs. This procurement presents an opportunity to play a leading role in shaping innovative, community-based acute care responses, with lived experience embedded across service design and delivery. This is a single-stage open procurement process. Further information, including service requirements, timelines, and response instructions, is available in the Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation. All communications must be submitted via GETS.
