Tender summary
Through this procurement, we are looking to engage a suitably experienced contractor to undertake desludging of the wastewater treatment pond. The contract will be structured as two separable portions: (a) Separable Portion 1 (SP1): Initial desludging during winter 2026 as enabling work to support the wider wastewater treatment plant upgrade programme, including baffle curtain installation; and (b) Separable Portion 2 (SP2): Final desludging, likely to be scheduled in winter 2028; to enable the pond to be reconstructed. Award of the second separable portion may be made to the successful tenderer for the first Separable Portion, subject to satisfactory performance on SP1 and acceptable pricing updates for SP2. The scope for SP1 includes mobilisation of specialist equipment, mechanical dredging and dewatering of sludge, protection of the pond liner, transport and disposal of sludge at an approved facility, and demobilisation. The SP1 contract focuses on removing sufficient sludge (approximately 160 dry tonnes, which is estimated to be approximately 1/3 of the total volume of sludge in the pond). Removal of this estimated volume is aimed to enable early works for the wider upgrade project. It is expected that the dry weight volume of sludge to be removed in SP2 will be approximately 320 dry tonnes. Deadline to register for Supplier Briefing: 12pm 17 April 2026.
