Das Projekt ABS Gäubahn – Stuttgart-Singen-CH, Abschnitt Süd, gehört zum vordringlichen Bedarf des Bundesverkehrswegeplans (BVWP 2030). Das Projekt befindet sich ggw. in Leistungsphasen 2 (Vorplanung) gemäß HOAI. Das Projektgebiet wird in Projekt-Lose und Vergabe-Lose (VG) unterteilt. Erkundungsmaßnahmen werden separat ausgeschrieben für - Projektlos 2 (Neckarhausen-Epfendorf, Strecke 4600, km 86,6-111,6), VG II: Bestandsstrecke, VG V: Neckarbrücken, VG VI: Tunnel - Projektlos 3 (Rottweil bis Grenze CH: Länge 71 km, davon Maßnahmen geplant auf ca. 12 km von Rietheim-Weilheim -Tuttlingen und Singen – Gottmadingen): VG III - Projektlos 4 (Singener Kurve): VG IV
