Summary
The Verdant Place Garden is located on the northwest tip of the line of the historic Englishtown medieval grain. This project involves landscape design works, the repair of historic railings, and the construction of a new link / route through a gated green space on Verdant Place, King’s Island, Limerick. The link will allow for continuous pedestrian and cycle movement to the east of the one-way vehicular carriageway that connects King Johns Castle to the south of St. Mary’s Park Regeneration Area. The objective of the Verdant Place project is to provide a new piece of public realm adjacent to the River Shannon. The restoration and rejuvenation of this space will provide enhanced local connectivity to the Regeneration Area of St. Mary’s Park, enhance the reading of King’s Island’s medieval history and feed into several active development schemes in the area. This development supports key objectives within both the Limerick Development Plan 2022-2028 and the Limerick Regeneration Framework Implementation Plan.
