The objective of this EOI is to identify a shortlist of demolition contractors to progress to a Request for Tender (RFT). On the 17 June 2025, RMA Reform and Housing Minister Hon Chris Bishop announced that the derelict and unsafe Gordon Wilson Flats in Wellington will lose its protected heritage status and become eligible for demolition through an amendment to the Resource Management Act (RMA). In anticipation of the RMA amendment, VUW is seeking to identify potential contractors with the necessary experience to undertake the deconstruction of the two buildings on the site at 320 The Terrace. Noting that should the new legislation fail to pass, the demolition project would be put on hold. The site is currently occupied by the Gordon Wilson Flats (Lot 1 DP 363050) and the McLean Flats (Lot 2 DP 363050), both of which are abandoned. The sites are next to each other and are also known as 320 and 314 The Terrace, respectively.
