Tender summary

RFx ID: 33287486 Organisation: Porirua City Council Open date: Tuesday, 13 January 2026 3:00 PM +13:00 Close date: Thursday, 12 February 2026 12:00 PM +13:00 Categories: 72000000 - Building and Facility Construction and Maintenance Services Region: New Zealand Overview: The opportunity This RFP is issued by Porirua City Council, referred to below as “the buyer” or “we” or “us”. This RFP is an invitation to all capable suppliers to submit a proposal to Porirua City Council (also referred to in this RFP as “the principal” or “Porirua City”) for the Porirua School Gate Variable Speed Limit Implementation project. Porirua City Council is implementing a 30 km/h variable speed limit outside all 36 schools in Porirua City to comply with the Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2024. This project will enhance safety for Tamariki travelling to and from school by creating safer speed environments during school operational hours. It will deliver consistent, legally enforceable speed management across all Porirua schools, contributing to the reduction of death and serious injury risk for vulnerable road users in school zones. What we need We are looking for an experienced civil contractor to supply, install and commission static variable speed limit signage and associated infrastructure at 36 schools across Porirua. The work includes supplying and installing 30 km/h variable speed limit signs, exit speed limit signs, poles, foundations and any minor civil works required to support the signage infrastructure. Given the school environment, we need a contractor with a strong safety culture and proven experience in delivering multi-site traffic sign installations. Experience working around schools or other sensitive community environments, and capability in temporary traffic management on busy roads and footpaths, will be particularly relevant. The successful contractor must be able to complete all sign installations by 30 June 2026.
