Tender summary

Within the SPOT project it is desired to develop a parabolic trough field for molten salt without the need for an electrical heating system for the receivers, which would result in considerable savings in investment costs. An existing BoP (SCHOTT-BoP) using liquid salt as heat transfer fluid in Évora (Portugal) is to be expanded and solar preheating is to be demonstrated with the adapted plant. The existing BoP includes a salt tank, but its volume is not sufficient for the activities in SPOT. It is therefore necessary to adapt the tank to the technical project requirements. The loop is part of the Évora Molten Salt Platform (EMSP), a research platform which is jointly operated by DLR and the University of Évora. A feasibility study has already been carried out to examine which technical solutions are available for the expansion of the salt tank volume. The extension of the existing tank with an additional salt tank was identified as the most promising solution. The feasibility study and further technical documentation can be found as an appended document to this tender.
