REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST (CONSULTING SERVICES – INDIVIDUAL) SECOND Solomon Islands Roads & Aviation Project (SIRAP2) The Solomon Islands Government is currently implementing the Second Solomon Islands Roads and Aviation Project (SIRAP2) supported by The World Bank to address road and aviation needs in the Solomon Islands. The consulting services (“the Services”) require a National Environmental and Social Officer (NESO), Reference No. SB-PST-542643-CS-INDV position to provide monitoring and oversight of SIRAP2 activities in compliance with the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework. The assignment is full-time based in Honiara at the Project Support Team office. Frequent and regular travel to assigned project sites is required. EXPERTISE REQUIREMENTS The Consultant shall have the following experience and qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or social science, with a minimum of 3 years prior relevant work experience in safeguards related works or, Diploma in environmental science or social science, with a minimum of 6 years prior relevant experience in safeguards related works or, Year 12 High School certificate with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in safeguards related works. Field experience in the Solomon Islands applying safeguard policies for SIG, the WB or other similar organisations will be an advantage. Ability to work independently and within a wider project team environment. Knowledge of socio-cultural and environmental issues pertaining to country context. Hands-on and action-oriented approach. Excellent communication skills in English and Pidgin. Willingness to travel to project sites and ability to travel often and for extended periods of time. Valid driver’s license.
