These vessels are used for sea patrolling across New Zealand and operate under three fishery sector groups (commercial, recreational, and customary). Each vessel must be in compliant working order to undertake the range of business activities in New Zealand waters consisting of both fresh and saltwater conditions, which encompasses fisheries patrols, surveillance and enforcement, multi-agency cooperation and maritime assistance. This Advanced Notice is to inform of the intention to go to market for a nationwide solution for replacement vessels with one or more key suppliers, strategically targeting long-term single supply arrangements. For the purposes of these requirements, vessels under 5m in length are defined as small vessels and vessels of 5.8 metres to a maximum of 7.5 metres are defined as large vessels.
