The bridge requires seismic strengthening to enable the future widening. The Contract Works comprise of: • The installation of abutment strengthening through the installation of bearing strips, corbels and concrete shear blocks at the 10 girders at the abutments at each end of the bridge. • Seismic FRP wrapping of 30 columns that will be carried out by a NZTA’s nominated supplier as subcontractor to this contract. • The works will also include traffic management, working over water and near a railway line. A tender inception meeting and site visit are planned for 3 October. See the RFT for more details. Only tenderers pre-qualified to 3D under the terms of the Transport Agency’s Prequalification System are eligible to submit a tender.
